Director of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce Julio F. Julia Invites you to the Caribe Health Summit
During his career, Mr. Juliá has managed several healthcare organizations including hospitals and managed care companies. He is also a retired US Army Medical Service Corps Lieutenant Coronel. While serving in the military, he participated in Operation Desert Storm and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his services during the conflict.
In Puerto Rico, he has been the President of the two largest health insurance organizations with annual revenues exceeding $2.5 billion, over 1 million insured members and over 3,000 employees. During the last 5 years, Mr. Juliá has been an advisor and developer of several healthcare business initiatives in Puerto Rico and Latin America. For many years, he has also been an avid advocate of medical tourism for Puerto Rico.
In spite of his professional achievements, his major source of inspiration and satisfaction are his contributions to charities and providing education opportunities for talented underserved kids in Puerto Rico. He has chaired the Make-a-Wish Foundation and several scholarship fundraising committees. He is also Chairman of the Board for Carlos Albizu University, a higher education institution specialized in psychology. In 2010, Mr. Juliá was recognized as a Distinguished Graduate of the School of Business Administration of the University of Puerto Rico.
In 2011, he was elected Director of the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce and awarded the “Zenit”, the most prestigious recognition within the insurance industry in Puerto Rico.
